Ive had a horse with a stifle injury before but never lameness involving the leg(s) b4 but i know that you can check for sensitivity such as hoof testers on the hoof but how does a horse react if it hurts like do they jerk their foot back or what?

  1. Yes they flinch just like you would.  but it might be best if you had a vet  or farrier use the hoof testers if you have never used one before

  2. It depends on the horse. SOmetimes they will jerk their hooves back and other times they will flinch. You ca nalso check for lameness if you have someone trot them and see if they are favoring any hooves.
