When a gas station or store runs your check through their system (trac-a-check or others), what info or #'s are they checking? Is it your personal information or your banking #'s on the check that the system reads?

  1. They are checking your acct # against a data base of known bad checks. They are not looking to see what is in your acct OR what your social is or anything, just to see if you match a data base of known offenders.

  2. it contacts your bank to see if you have sufficient funds to cover the amount and also runs the account number against a list of accounts that have posted bad checks previously.
