Player A has $10,000. Player B has $10,000. If player A says "all in" and then only places $9,000 out for all to see. Player B calls. The cards are shown and player A wins. Then during the payout he brings forth the additional 1,000 chip. Isn't that baiting.

  1. Actually that is pretty much cheating.

If you declare all in, and then hide a chip, and then lose you would normally be knocked out of the tournament right there (since player A had the same amount of chips).  If after the payout you introduce the $1,000 chip and say, "Oops, looks like I still have a chip."  It would almost certainly be confiscated, since you should have been out.

On the flip side if you win, the other player would not have to give you the $10,000 because you had been counted at $9,000.

So if you win, you shorted yourself $1,000.  If you lose, you'll still be out.

Ultimately they don't like cheating in poker, and this kind of play will certainly get you noticed and not in a good way.

  2. In tournament rules, if a player announces a bet but then pushes in something different in chips, he is required to add/remove chips to make his bet equal to what he said.  If he says all in, he must be ALL in.  His whole 10,000 must be played.

  3. Player A can say all in and not even move his or her chips into the middle.  If the player has 10,000 in chips and announces all in.

All chips that are on the table at that time are in play it is called "Table Stakes"

I have seen at Foxwoods two players in a hand and one says, "All In" the other says "I call" neither move their chips forward and before the hand is dealt out then the dealer counts each players chips and see who has more or less etc.  They then put the chips in the middle.

In some cases I have seen in order to save time, neither player puts chips into the center until a winner is declared.  this is wrong but it is done.  At anytime during a poker hand a player is allowed to ask for a count of a players chips and it is good practice to ask if you don't know.

  4. verbal declarations are binding at the poker table. All in is all in. if he didnt declare all in and placed 9k out then placed the final 1k it would be considered a string bet and not allowed.

I am also unfamilliar with baiting. Occasionally i will manipulate my chips on my side of the bet line as if I am betting to project strength to keep my opponents from betting into me, or even place my chips in my hand as if Im betting then put them back again to gain information, but that is actually bad ettiquite.

    good luck at the table.

  5. If you say all-in, it's binding.  You can't say "oops, missed one."  All chips must be visible at all times, and you cannot hide higher denomination chips either behind smaller chips or buried in a stack of smaller chips.

  6. "All in" means ALL of your money IN. If you have $10,000, it is cheating to not put out all of your money. You can't just "hide" a 1,000 chip. That is tottaly cheating.

And just to tell you- I beat like 18 fantastic poker players.

And I am an 11 year old.

    Go figure.

  7. He can't say all-in without putting everything in. Only if that $1000 wasn't entered into the game, or wasn't converted into chips on the table.

  8. I've never heard of "baiting" but I do know that all chips in play must be on the table. If you miss count and call than to bad for you. If you ask for a chip count (always do this) then all chips must be represented
