  1. No! Although it sounds logical, there are certain bacteria that the human body has no defense against. Raw meats carry multitudes of bacteria that CAN be harmful to humans, such as E-coli

  2. You'll be OK as long as the meat is of high quality. Otherwise it may be dangerous for you,... even deadly. There are different countries and different dishes that have raw meat. But again, I would not recommend eating raw meat out of Walmart.

  3. Japanese eat raw horse meat, they also eat raw beef on sushi, and Japanese people's health record has been very good.

I personally prefer raw fish, for other meat I prefer to have them cooked, well, at least medium rare.

  4. the problem with eating raw meat isn't that it's raw.  the problem is that incompetent (read: common) butchering processes can contaminate the meat by accidentally including chunks of bone marrow, spinal cord, or f***s.  this opens up a world of nasty possibilities from e.coli to mad cow disease and many other forms of food poisoning.

if you know a reputable local butcher who uses local (if not their own) meat, then raw meat SHOULD be safe.  to be honest, if you order a rare steak (or even medium rare) the inside of your steak is raw, more or less.

it is also typically safe to consume raw eggs so long as they are as fresh as possible.  many body builders and athletes will drink blended drinks with raw eggs on a regular basis because of the health benefits.

it all boils down to whether or not you are comfortable taking the risk based on how much you trust your food supplier as well as your body type.  warnings typically target children, elderly, and those with weaker immune systems, as food poisoning can become much more serious.  but if you are an average healthy adult, food poisoning will amount to no more than a week or so with stomach pain and frequent trips to the loo.

  5. Steak Tartare has been a delicacy for MANY years.  As long as the cows were healthy, then you have no problem.  I wouldn't eat any raw pork or chicken though - not even a little
