Question on running state tax in texas

hi

i live in chicago doing consulting and my employer is based in california. they also have a registered office in texas.

my employer has been running my payroll with texas state tax, to

avoid NO state tax on my payroll.

what sort of problem i might face when i file my returns next year. shoudl i still owe anything to illinois when i file my returns next yr?

  1. You are going to owe Illinois.

    Also, you would have problems if you should ever get laid off as your employer is not paying Illinois unemployment either.
