As a commonwealth citizen serving in the British Army, after I get my citizenship, can I move to some other country in Europe? Or do I need to reside in the UK? Like for my Terminal, where I am given some weeks to go find work, can I look for work in Germany, and still retain my British citizenship(and please dont say germany doesnt give dual citizenship, i know, im just saying can i move there)

  1. The simple answer is no. Being a citizen of one EU country does not give you rights within another EU country. If you want to move to Germany, regardless of whether you are from another EU country or somewhere else, you have to go through the whole immigration process. You will have to apply for residency, show proof of monetary support etc... Finding a job in Germany, before you start the process will make it much easier. Be sure that you get a German work permit first.

You will retain your current citizenship, while living in Germany. Germany has no rule that says you must relinquish other citizenships to live here.
