My EFC is 0

On my first year, I completed 3 quarters

Second year, I completed 2 semesters

Third year, I completed 2 semesters

Fourth year, I am completing 3 quarters

Fifth year, I will be completing 3 quarters.

Will I be covered in my fifth year?

  1. The federal Pell Grants is a need based grant for undergraduate students. See web site:eastnetwork.com/eas/loans_I_ASP

  2. You can receive the Pell Grant as long as you are an undergraduate student working on your first bachelor's degree AND as long as you meet the school's academic progress guidelines.  One of the guidelines is that you are making progress towards your degree.  If you take to long (as determined by the school) you could be denied all financial assistance, including the Pell Grant.  You need to check with a counselor at your college's financial aid office, look on their aid office's website, or look in your undergraduate catalog to find out what the standards are.

Most graduate students rely on student loans...there are no Pell Grants for graduate students.  Going to medical school?  Be prepared to borrow, borrow, borrow.  Average debt for medical students after graduating is easily over $100,000.

  3. For Pell grants (and any federal fin aid) it goes by how many hours you have attempted... not how many semesters or quarters you went.  So the info you provided really doesn't give enough info to determine if you've exceeded your attempted hour limits.

You can get student loans for grad school.  But once you earn your bachelors degree, you cant get Pell anymore.

  4. Try looking here. It’s an excellent site with some wonderful options for you. You won't regret opening it. It will definitely help you. Have a look.
