Does anyone know if the meaning of it has anything to do with the Ku Klux Klan or hating African Americans and slavery?

  1. Depends on WHO you ask.

Black people will insist that the Rebel Flag is a symbol of hatred because the KKK used it in the slavery days and because it was the flag of the Confederate Military.

White southerners will insist that it is simply a flag symbolizing Southern Pride and dislike for the Northern Union States. Although everyone agrees that the US will never return to the slavery days of segregation and racial hatred. For most blacks it is symbolic of the hatred, violence and discrimination that they suffered through the decades. I personally have no opinion, one way or the other on this topic, but I do agree that Political Correctness regarding this matter has simply gotten out of hand. Just as it is now illegal to display the Swasticka and the SS symbols in Germany, some states are trying to make displaying the Rebel Flag illegal, punishable by arrest and fines.
