There is another great book by Robert Byrne entitled Standard Book of Pool and Billiards. It has a section with simple explanations and illustrations about the diamond system. I hope that helps.

First of all, there are multiple diamond systems, depending on the situation - how many rails, which rail first, etc. Below are a series of pages that are good to start with. There are other pages in the series and if you go up a level, you can see them all. One of the best books on banking is "Banking with the Beard" by Freddy Bentivegna. Also, look for Desmond Allen's "Win at Pocket Billiards". Both of the books cover multiple systems for all kinds of kicks and banks.
