(I am not bulimic, and I am not the least bit interested in 'becoming' bulimic.... so no preaching, thanks.)

I was thinking about bulimia.

Wouldn't regurgitating after eating only MAINTAIN current body weight - not reduce it? Or is there something I'm not getting here? Explain please?

(sorry if I sound ignorant or something, stay patient)

  1. It would maintain it for awhile, but always purging is like starving yourself. You never let any food settle or digest, which would make you start to lose weight.

  2. When bulimics throw up they are getting rid of what they have just eaten to avoid the calories. So they are basically starving themselves so your body would eat away your muscle and you would become malnourished and lose weight. They usually binge a HUGE amount of food like 5000 calories in sweets and stuff like that then puke it up. It's a tough, bumpy road girl.

  3. It keeps you from taking in more calories.  Your body is always burning calories, so purging is one way to burn more than you take in.  That is how bulimia "works".

  4. I listed a site here with actual facts.  I don't care much about it so I am not going to read it.  But this is how I understand it.  When someone eats and eats and eats, and then forces themselves to throw up, they are not absorbing the calories they just consumed, therefore, they might as well have not eaten anything at all.  So, no, not maintaining, unless they eat the correct number of calories to maintain, and then throw up everything else after.  Read the article if you really are that curiouse.  It is a very seriouse problem for young women, and I really hope your not considering this as a weight loss option.
