Question:

Question on the rules?

When I was playing a while ago, I landed on the green and my playing partner landed just off it. He then chipped his ball onto the green which hit my ball and went in.

Should I have made him retake it or is it a legal shot?

  1. Unfortunately, you suffer at the hands of the rules. Your ball is replaced as close to its original position as possible and your playing partner plays his ball from where it came to rest.

The Golf Gods giveth and the Golf Gods taketh away.

  2. The first lesson when near the green should be to put a tab into the ground and move your ball to prevent this kind of ancient.

  3. Your partner lucks out and his shot counts. You replace your ball to the spot it was before it was struck.

Rule 18-5. Ball at Rest Moved By Another Ball.

  4. sorry legal shot.

  5. It's a legal shot .....................lucky but legal from off the green.

  6. He was off the green when he played his shot so no penalty for hitting your ball. His ball went in the hole, that counts, he's just had a bit of good luck. Your ball is replaced as near a possible to where it originally lay and you carry on from there.

  7. legal im afraid.
