First, I need to say I am not an expert in evolution, but have researched some. So this may sound naive to some, but it is something I have been pondering and would like respectable answers.
With evolution, which in earlier years was survival of the fittest, caused mutations in our genes to increase survival rates per our environment. I understand this question is not valid in the present because we do not have a need for night vision, but in earlier years of human life we learned to sleep while at night, since we did not have clarity in our night vision and would increase our chances of survival against the mammals that do have great night vision.
Why is it then that through evolution and mutations in our genes that humans did not evolve to develop better night vision? Why did we suffice to use our intelligence to understand it was better to sleep at night and stay out of prey’s grasp, instead of us evolving through our genetics to develop better night vision and overcome that obstacle in survival?
Any insight into this question would be greatly appreciated as I am very curious about this.
Thank You!
