.. over the course of several years.."

Now excuse me for being brash... but WHAT IN THE h**l sense does this make? (unwed, public assis., numerous pregnancies over several years) - And is it all but assumed that noone but a WOMAN could garner any type of sympathy from putting themselves in these situations?

  1. This is a prime example of the sexually biased laws that let women like these off the hook.  If the man (father) is found he will be responsible for child support, if she files for it, but in many cases, the mother finds it more profitable to just stay on welfare and keep the "phantom" father around, but out of sight.

This system perpetuates and noone is willing to make any real changes for fear of being charged with racism.

Some state, to their credit, have put a limit on the benefits to these women no matter how many children they bring into the world.  More power to them, but too little, too late.  But at least it's a step in the right direction.

  2. Easy on the man blame here girls!!!!

I happen to know for a fact that A LOT of these children have fathers in their lives.  And A LOT of these "ladies" are going into the hospital to have babies and putting "father:  Unknown" on the birth certificate just so they can collect another cheque.  A LOT of these pregnancies are not accidents at all but a feeble attempt to either trap a man or collect money.

This disgusts me. Any woman who uses a child to get what she wants is a sorry excuse for a woman indeed.  It drives me well and truly CRAZY that there are so many people who take advantage of our wonderful system which was put in place to help people get through bad times NOT to support worthless, lazy slags.

The best part is when you see them walking into the food bank with their pretty clothes and fancy labels!!!!!  HELLO...did you really need that $200 pair of jeans more than your kids need food????

AAARRRRGGGG!  This whole subject makes me nuts.  Sorry for spouting off and I'm sure I'll be deleted but somebodies gotta say it.

If any of you parasite freaks are reading this...Shame on you!

Rednightsky:  I don't know where you are but I can guarantee you that in the GTA the welfare queen is no myth.  I'm talking about girls who aren't even 22 years old with 3 or 4 kids all from different fathers, sitting on their butts sucking the system dry while those of us who work are being told that they're closing school pools, and we have to provide all of our kids school supplies and our kids are sitting in mouldy portables because there's no tax dollars to pay for new schools or more supplies.  You go look in that womans house though and I promise you that 8 times out of 10 there's a pack of cigarettes on the coffee table, beer in the fridge and an ipod on mom's head so she doesn't have to listen to her kids screaming!

Don't get me wrong....it is a great system and I've got no problem with someone who falls on hard times and needs help for a year or 2 to get back on their feet that's what welfare is supposed to be for but I've got no time for losers who milk the system out of pure laziness and lack of morals.

  3. People like that make me sick, because over the entire length of their childbearing years they refuse to learn responsibility for their promiscuity. So as society we end up saddled with their always "accidental" army of unwanted off-springs. I bet, if she had to support her babies by herself without any help from the tax payers, she would think twice before having unprotected s*x with some loser.

  4. I agree.   We need to enforce the current welfare laws.   Right now the 5 year time limit (US) is not enforced.    They give them "hardship" exemptions (for pregnancy, lack of progress in school, etc).  When the hardships are self induced it makes me mad.  Take away hardship exemptions.

These women want to be SAHM's but with the government providing the income instead of a spouse.

  5. Obviously those who think that to get a check you need to go on birth control is in favor of eugenics.  Who are we to control someone else's sexuality?  Do you know all their circumstances.  Most women do not have children when they are on public assistance  (the limit is 5 years, and in some states it is broken up to 2 years on 2 years off) and there are basically no benefits to it.  It's not like they give you enough money to keep you comfortable.  In the first month a person has to make like 40 or 50 job contacts (not just fill out applications).  People with ok jobs but just can't seem to make rent have to quit their jobs to apply, and have usually end up with a worse job that they are required to take, are worse off when aid runs out.  Majority of the women are single mothers without child support.  A lot are also older women who cannot afford to take care of themselves (often have no pension, if they do it is on average 50% of a man's, and have less social security for years they spent 'not working' and taking care of children).  The welfare queen is a myth and almost (maybe not completely) untrue.

Also they do not get credit for children born while they are on welfare.  And if they have children they usually have to submit their name and last known address, but they still usually can't find the fathers.

These rules are enforced.  Agencies are allowed put 20% of their clients on welfare without time restrictions, but most find that this percentage is not high enough, and that the majority is given to people with conditions like depression, mental disorders, and physical disorders.

Also many of the women get sanctions because of the strict rules of welfare.  These sanctions run from a month to years.  While on these sanctions people do not get support from welfare, but it still counts towards their time limit.

  6. You forget one important point where are the Males that got them pregnant then left them to deal with it. Make any man that gets a woman responsible for paying for and taking care of the woman & the child. Responsibility is a two edged sword and men should take responsibility for their actions, but most aren't man enough to do it, then they do as you do and complain.

  7. I have no sympathy for these women, only for the children.  I have heard of cases where mandatory tubal ligation has been enforced for women that have taken this scenario to the extreme. Some type of birth control (Depo ) should be administered well before then.

Edit: If we want to put the blame on the fathers then I think the whole notion of "my body" goes out the window.  Perhaps women are just going to have to deal with the fact that with the "rights", comes the responsibility.  Take it or leave it.

  8. One thing to keep in mind is that thanks to our right-wing government, many women can't afford birth control and have no access to abortions.  Condoms are cheap, but not the most reliable for of birth control in the world.  Combine a lack of ability to get birth control with lack of access to abortion and the attitude that abortion is wrong, and what does that leave you with?  Women having lots of children

  9. Agreed. They should be sympathetic to the custodial parent of either gender in that situation. And towards any people who become parents when young by accident.

I don't think being a single parent on public assistant is an easy life. Just because they repeat their mistakes doesn't mean they wanted to live that way or they haven't made sacrifices.

  10. and you ask, "Where are the men?"

FYI - in the states beginning oh, about 6-7 years ago while you were still in kindergarten, women were no longer eligible to receive cash benefits for any child born AFTER initially receiving welfare.  They only get food stamps.  and you know what?  If the, hmm, excuse the term >"fathers"< were fiscally responsible for their own offspring, generous and sensitive taxpayers like yourself wouldn't be raising other men's kids.  Now, WHAT IN THE h**l sense does this make?

  11. Some one, presumably a loser also got them pregnant. I think we should give them Depo (birth control) shots when they pick up a check. No depo no check. I know a few people like this and it erks the h**l outta me.

Not necessarily Eugenics just a little common*** senses and less pity stories. I grew up the poor kid in a poor neighborhood, but choose to keep my knees together long enough to get on my feet

You support kids better on your feet then your back.

    Cant feed don't breed em......

  12. I am 21 years old and i am a single mother(my dtr is 2). I work full time and attend school full time. I live on my own and i am putting myself through school as well as taking care of my child alone.I will be graduating with my BSN next june. I pay taxes like everyone else. I make to much money to recieve  any kind of government assistance and i dont  have any family or friends that can help support me or my child. My Ex-Fiance became abusive and controlling after i had my dtr, as well as quiting his job. We had been together since i was 12.  I believe that if someone needs help ( women or men) as long as they are trying to better themselves then they deserve it.  Some people are less fortunate and mistakes do happen. What about the rape victims, what about people who cant afford or dont believe in abortions. Maybe if we came together more as a community and helped each other there wouldn't be so much of a need for welfare programs. But in reality people are for the most part to selfish and judgemental..............And both parents should be responsible, but thats in an ideal world where poverty and teen pregnancy dont exsist. We all have flaws and are imperfect stop judging and start contributing. I make 30,000 a year and i donate and do volunteer work with my community. But you dont see me mad or judging others. Thats not my job(I'll leave that to God.)

  13. If they would make them go to school or something. If they have a child under the age of 5yrs they don't make them do nothing,I don't know about any body else but I was a single mother that had 4 boys,(3,5,6&8)I didn't want to leave them with a babysitter Sooo I did 3rd shift,my boys were asleep while I was working(although sleep was inevitable) you would be amazed at what you can do IF you really want to!!!! I agree that something should be done. They get so many food stamps that they tend to sell them,we that hold jobs don't spend as much in groceries as they do Because we don't make enough!!! Famous words of woman on assistance"I can't because I don't have a babysitter,I can't because..." I did it and it wasn't easy but it is possible!! Kids should not be a excuse for laziness!!! The government needs to quit awarding them for what they don't do!!!!!!   If they sit around and do nothing where are they any different  from that man they are complaining about???? We the tax payers didn't get her pregnant yet we are paying for it!! Both should carry that responsibility!

  14. The abuse of welfare is disgusting.  I know of one single mother who kept having children so she could get lucky and have a little boy!!

Now, she lives in a roach infested apt, with no furniture. the poor children sleep on the floor, and are infested with lice.

What kind of life can u give new babies if u cant take care of 1.

In my city, birth control is F-R-E-E!!

  15. Been there, done that, moved on!

I had a baby at 20. It was embarrassing needing support from family and friends. They stood by me and sent me to college.

All they asked was that I never bring another baby in the house w/o a husband. That was 14 yrs ago--I LEARNED MY LESSON THE FIRST TIME.

Granted, I was from a middle class family in a nice neighborhood.

For underprivileged girls, due to income, birth control is free. Dang! the medicare cab ride to get it is free. I really don't understand their mentality.

What I have learned about poor ppl is that since they don't have a lot of nice possessions, children and family become their "accomplishments."
