Question re: cashing stimulus check at walmart?

ok, I have a question. When you go to walmart to cash you tax stimulus check, do they run your drivers license through check systems? We dont have a checking account due to a balance owed from a long long time ago, due to someone that wrote us a bad check, which we cashed and never got the money from them, so we ended up owing the bank. Anyways, I just wondered if they do run your license through check systems, because it always shows up that we owe 30.00 but every time we have tried to pay it, the bank has changed hands, and the check systems place doesnt have current information, so we have no idea where to send a payment to! (very frustrating I might add to!)

Also, I just had a birthday and had my license renewed, I have a paper license, I have my old drivers license which has been cut, do they take that as id? thanks!

  1. I don't know about your DL but I do know that they don't go through the check systems. They only look to see if you've ever written a bad check to walmart. If you've ever written them a bad check then they won't let you cash it without 1st taking care of your debt.

  2. So, the bank changes hands EVERY WEEK? Even though someone wrote you a worthless check, it's not the banks fault. You still owe the bank. Go pay the $30 and it will eventually be off your credit record.

Why not take your stimulus check to the bank, have them cash it, minus the 30 bucks you owe????

It's up to you to collect for the worthless check from whomever wrote it. You didn't say how much the bad check was written for, but still it's illegal to write them. Tell the person to make it good, or you will turn it over to the Sheriff's Department, and they will collect it, or arrest him/her.

  3. Your license is used ONLY as id.  Your photo should appear on it, as in most states.

  4. Go to the bank that now owns the bank with which you had this issue.  Talk to a bank officer and offer to open an account with his or her bank so that you can get this matter taken care of.  When you have opened the account have them write a letter to the "check system" that has give you a problem.  My company uses on of those and they send a letter to each customer that they deny with an address and phone number that they can resolve any problem.
