Question re tile boards in the bathroom.Want to surround the bathtub with them.?

If you use strong glue to you have to do anything to the edges where each panel meet side by side. And can you purchase them in a 5 by 8 instead of the 4 foot 8 sections i saw at lowes.My hubby says you have to put a strip over the seam to keep the moisture out Is that true.It's less expensive than buying a whole surround

  1. 4x8 is the only size made they do have "h" strips for the seams, inside and outside corners as well. (all plastic) i would recomend puting them on with clear silicon. for a thight (seal) so no water gets behind the board. be sure to wipe exsess off.  personal i dont like the masonite board i would rather go with FRP (fiberglass reinforced panels) they look a little comerical but will hold up much better..  even using "strong glue you wont be any better off if ur board starts to rot...


  2. The joints are treated with thinset mortar and fiberglass mesh.  The tiles are laid over this layer and once they are grouted it is waterproof.
