What I needed to understand is basically why did the mental health doctor prescribe those two tablets?

I desire to recognize the effects of the tablets along with the side effects?

I’ve taken the medication for almost two weeks but furthermore can’t sight any alteration in my thinking pattern.

I take one Citalopram in the morning & before nightfall I swallow one Olanzapine.

  1. Citalopram is an antidepressant and anti-anxiety medication. It is helpful to improve your mood and decrease your worrying.

Olanzapine is an antipsychotic and mood stabilizer. It is helpful for psychosis (impaired sense of reality) and to prevent mood swings like in Bipolar illness.

The two medications are commonly combined for depressed patients who do not respond an antidepressant alone, to Bipolar patients with depression, and in schizoaffective patients with depression.

  2. Citalopram is an antidepressant drug used to treat symptoms of depression, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, or obsessive-compulsive disorder. This drug has been proven to be safe as long as it is used in it prescribed dose (20mg to 60mg/ day). Usual side effects include fatigue, drowsiness, dry mouth, increased sweating, trembling, headache, dizziness, sleep disturbances, insomnia, cardiac arrhythmia, blood pressure changes, nausea and/or vomiting and diarrhea.

Olanzapine is used in depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder. Side effects include tardive dyskinesia (series of involuntary repetitive movements), dry mouth, dizziness, weight gain (seen in 90% of users), insomnia, among others.

    Hope this helps.
