Question regarding my purchased-for-me airline ticket?

I am travelling by airplane soon. My tickets were purchased by my mother which is not flying with me. I have heard that you have to swipe a credit card to prove that its your ticket. How can I do this if I did not purchase the ticket. My name is on the itinerary papers and I have valid I.D.

  1. The credit card swiping puts your name in the computer which searches the data base to find your reservation.  With the exception of a few international airports the same credit card with which the ticket was purchased is not necessary.

  2. You don't need a credit card.. just go to the check-in counter.. they don't care who bought the ticket for you,

it should have your name and you Must have a valid ID thats all they want to see.

  3. THAT SHOULD BE FINE IF YOU TELL THEM THAT THE TICKETS WERE BOUGHT BY YOUR MOM

  4. You don't need a credit card, except at some electronic check-ins Kiosks.  Just go to the check-in counter, show them your ID, and you're in business...I promise that a state-issued ID is plenty when you go to the counter and deal with a person...it's the machines that like the credit card swipe, so you're fine.

  5. Call the airline. Talk to someone. Explain your questions. Listen to the answers. Or, check in on the airline's web site. Find the answers to your questions.

    Have a great trip.

  6. You don't need your mom's credit card to check in. You only need the CC if you are checking in through the express check in kiosks (w/o the ticket agent).

But if your name is on the ticket then you should be able to walk up to the ticket agent and show your drivers license to check in.
