  1. dates and milk along with some soup with bread. Then you have a little meal. Rice and Chicken...

  2. depends on the region or area you are from.. It can vary from city to city.. for example (seems off the subject but) Northern people from USA dont drink much iced tea.. but Southerners do... So see, its just as the same..

Maybe me and my family, we are from the eastern province of SaudiArabia.. We for Iftar.. we have water, juice and a few dates.. We go pray. ... then we come back. sit down and take some light soup, maybe have some fried pastries (like the cheese or meat halfmoon pastries).. we have something (which is called different in different regions).. we call it Thareed.. its nothing more than light crispy bread broken up in the bottom of a huge serving bowl, and poured over this is a light meaty brothy soup and then veggies and some meat are layed out over the top.. the bread in the bottom of the bowl soaks up the broth and it tastes real nice (and messy and gloppy, but the kids like it) ..  ANd we have something else we call Harees.. its boiled wheat berries with a little meat, till both are so soft, you can beat it with a spoon and it makes a pasty, sort of oatmeal tectured puree and you serve it in a flat dish with a little butter over the top.....We do not eat rice at this time.. the rice is the 2nd meal usually served around midnight..
