Do you guys eat Fish everyday? I know eating tuna everyday is bad because of mercury content, but what about other fishes?

(Please Note: If you're going to give me a website source, Animal activist sources like PETA will be invalid to me. )

  1. Generally speaking, fish that are higher on the food chain (IE, usually larger, like swordfish, shark, ahi tuna, etc) tend to have higher mercury content, since they're around in the mercury tainted water, plus they eat all the little fish that have mercury too, so it tends to build up in the big fish.

Here is a list of what what fish have the least amount of mercury:

P.S. I am a recent convert to flexitarianism... I maybe eat red meat once a month. Mostly just fish and chicken now. I usually eat chicken twice a week and fish 3 times a week. Not out of morals or whatever... just trying to get healthier before my August wedding!

  2. I wonder if (**) is ever going to contribute any ideas or thoughts of his/her own to this forum, rather than copy and paste someone else's answer and then taunt them for not being a vegetarian or vegan? Particularly obnoxious and hypocritical behaviour as s/he freely admits the s/he is not a vegetarian or vegan her/himself, don't you think?

  3. I am a pescatarian.  I eat tuna twice per week.  I also eat mahi mahi like twice per week.

I eat shrimp or other kinds of fish when I eat out every once in a while...like every other week.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FLEXITARIAN!  GET A LIFE!

  4. There's no set schedule as to a pescetarian's fish eating. It simply is a designation (fairly new) for someone who's animal flesh intake is limited to fish. Eating fish everyday would probably be harmful in the long run.

Flexitarianism? I understand what it means but I don't understand how eating animal flesh 292 times per year would qualify.

I'm neither a pescetarian, vegetarian, the flexitarians don't want me either. This qualifies me to answer this question.

  5. I followed this lifestyle for about 8 years and was probably veggie most of the time, with 3 fish meals per week. I know swordfish is very high in mercury. I think things like tuna and salmon are ok in moderation. I got bored of my diet and now also eat a small amount of organic chicken and turkey. I admire people who can stick with the veggie/ pesci lifestyle long term....I just found it too hard. I'm still totally grossed out by red meat. Wierd huh?

  7. I am a pescatarian meaning I eat just about all seafood but not all the time. i eat smoke salmon and tuna. I can have fish cakes. I eat scallops and prawns but maybe once a week or one a fortnight maybe even once a month. I eat lots of vegetables and fruits. I dont like eggs or milk or cheese. I probably am more about health but helping animals (cows, sheep, pigs, chickens) is a bonus. Yes fish are animals but I am eating this way for HEALTH first.
