  1. We're not to blame for the weather.  We are (mostly) to blame for the fact that the temperature is doing this:

The ideal temperature is what nature would do in our absence.  This graph shows what that was, until we messed things up:

    Bottom line:

"If the Earth came with an operating manual, the chapter on climate might begin with a caveat that the system has been adjusted at the factory for optimum comfort, so don't touch the dials."

EVERY major scientific organization has issued an official statement that this is real, and mostly caused by us.  The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Chemical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Association, etc.

  2. All scientists understand there is natural variability. We share the blame.

  3. That word "only" changes the whole question.

We are to blame for the human-related part of global climate change, which comes from doing business, so to speak, in a manner that's not healthy for the planet and it's inhabitants in the long run.

The ideal climate?  Not sure there is such a thing.

  4. No, we have no way of knowing what happens because of man made global warming and what would have happened anyways.

The ideal climate is the climate that species of plants and animals have spent hundreds of thousands of years adapting to and are easily able to withstand minor fluctuations.
