Hello, I am a Pianist/ Poet. Lately, I've had a lot of free time on my hands, and I have spent most of it sitting in front of my Piano. But I seem to be having some trouble. I mean, the songs sound great, but they don't seem to be coming from the heart, or personal, You Know what I mean? Anyways, I wanted to see what other musicians use as kind of their "Inspiration" For there songs. Some use loved one's, or some use specific occurences, whether they are happy or sad, or just plain weird. What do you use, and why?

  1. For inspiration I recommend you take some time off and relax, read a good book, watch a good movie. It seems like you are working too hard.

  2. I usually find that when I sit down and try to write a song, nothing happens.  However, when I'm in a particularly emotional state and I start playing, I get some really good stuff.

Pretty much anything can inspire me, even some random person on the street or a TV commercial.  The key is to think.  Think about everything and how it affects people.  Once you think enough, you might be able to write something about it.

Sometimes, actions of people close to me affect my writing, but I think that those kinds of songs end up more bland and not as unique.  Let's face it, there are too many love songs out there...

  3. I play guitar pretty well but I can't write songs very well at all. I've tried a few times and I can get the main melody down OK but the song ends up boring because I don't know how to use writing techniques like bridges and stuff.

  4. well i just kinda write my songs based on things that have happened, people or emotions etc. On my profile Theres a link to my myspace with 6 of my songs on it if you need ideas or to get you started etc

  5. you need to be emotional, at least thats when im inspirated most.
