I'm not sure if the timer system works the same in all countries, but as we know sandwiches are good to eat for ten minutes after that time if no one buys it you need to ask someone to give them back to you and you throw them to trash. Do you ever cheat with timers to make sandwiches "fresh" for longer?

  1. I had worked at a Jack in the Box many many many many years ago and we were told to make things 'fresh' longer.  We're talking everything from prep to finished product.

I didn't like the practice so people waited much longer to get food when they ordered it as I would do my very best to only make it when it was ordered.

  2. i work at dairy queen and we never make the sandwiches until they are ordered but we do make the actual burgers. They are supposed to be held for 20 minutes and then flipped over and held for 20 minutes more in the warmer. But a couple of times when i was worling in the burgers section we got an order for a sandwich burger and the burgers were past 40 minutes in the warmer but a crew leader just told me to use them so the customer wouldn't have to wait for fresh ones which take 6 minutes. things like that always happen whether they are suppose to or not. there have also been plenty of times when they were not past the 40 minutes in the warmer but we threw them out anyway because they looked bad. There is pretty good quality control but yes things like that do happen sometimes for one reason of another.

  3. I work at Wendy's.

The burgers are assembled only when ordered and the patties on the grill that are not used in time, get frozen to use in chili.

But with the fries, nuggets, and strips, we don't even bother with the timers. If some goody-two-shoed employee sets the timer, someone else just shuts it off when it goes because its annoying. Basically, I have NEVER, nor have I ever seen anyone throw fries out, even on the slowest, most rainy Sundays. Sometimes, those fries will sit for a good 45 minutes and I've seen strips last MUCH longer.

That's kinda pathetic. So always ask for fresh fries, or well-done fries (to ensure they are in fact fresh) next time you visit your local Wendy's franchise.

  4. You know that McDonalds has corporate spies who check out the franchises to see if people are doing just that? It isn't worth a big downcheck like that from "corporate" that could cause you to lose your franchise.
