Question:

Question to the ghost hunters out there.?

I have read lots of comments from people who say that they go on ghost hunts. So I am curious as to how many are serious investigators and how many just do informally for fun. So I have a multi-part question:

1. What exactly do you do?

2. What kind of places do you go and do you get permission from the owners?

3. What equipment do you use?

4. How do you analize your data?

5. Do you give feedback to the owners?

Thanks!

  1. 1. I explore places that have reported unusual activity looking

for evidence of unusual activity as well as supporting

evidence for the popular story. I use historical research,

witness interviews,  psychic impressions, human and      equipment observations, that is all blinded from one another   until the end of an investigation. I have strict protocols for every investigaton. I also use at least one control area that is also blinded. I train all people attending before every investigation.

    2. Obviously if a person request a private investigation then permission is not a problem. My next investigation will be at a reportedly haunted hotel. I will not conduct an investigation without permission from owners or management.

    3. 35mm SLR camera (some with infrared film)

Tape or Disk Cam corders (some with night shot)

          Watch

          Pen & Paper

          Measuring tape

EMF detecors to elimate high A/C fields

           Map (Floorplan)

           Various equipment depending on experiments

    I would like to add:

        EMF D/C detector

        Ion counter

        Thermal imaging camera and camcorder

    4. Data is brought together at the end of an investigation to

compare any unusual recordings, psychic impressions, witness reports and historical research to see if anything matches, agrees with the other information collected from another area.

    5. Owners or managment is always provided with a written report describing equipment used, procedures followed (any exceptions to protocol) and any research uncovered as well when no supporting evidence could be found in public records, etc.

This is a very short answer that takes me an hour training lecture (then lots of questions), an all day walk through practice, and constant monitoring during an actual investigation (of which the observation is the last part for practical reasons) to accomplish.

  2. If you are a Christian, then there are no such things as Ghosts.  When you die your soul goes to either heaven or h**l.  There is no option for staying on earth.  In the bible the only "souls" that come to earth are either angels from heaven or demons from h**l.

  3. My family and I do hunts together.  We hope someday to be asked to hunt a specific area.  We thoroughly enjoy the Ghost Hunters show and anything else on TV to do with it.  We use a camcorder with nightshot, 2 mini cassette recorders and a digital camera.  We have gotten some EVP's and a couple of questionable shots with a digital camera but nothing else.

Other than that we've had some personal experiences but nothing that got recorded.

As far as analyzing the data, we merely watch the video we get, go through the pictures and listen (wearing headphones) the audio.

We keep trying but also enjoy the hunts even when we come up empty handed.  It's fun nonetheless.

  4. well, i have found i am very good at just sensing paranormal activity in places, just on my own, based on gut feelings i get when i walk into a place.  from there i will bring a camera to take pictures, of every possible angle i can get of a room.  i take pictures with and without flash to rule out reflections and things like that.  if my friend susie comes with, she has an emf meter which reads disturbances in electromagnectic waves which is supposed to indicate the presance of ghosts.  it works.  we have used it, found a hot spot, busted out the camera and come up with some weird stuff on film.  ive never had to ask permission to actually search a place, but i make sure i ask permission before taking pictures or busting out the emf reader, just so people dont freak out at what im doing.  as for analizing it, i dont really.  i have had plenty of paranormal experiences, if there is a ghost around i can just sort of sense why its there, what it wants, and sometimes who it is...or was as the case may be.  so i dont really need to analize it, and the pictures are just cool to have.  the only time i give feed back so to speak is if the place is a known haunted location and they have a website or something they post pictures on.

edit: sometimes we do bring a tape recorder to try for evp readings.  we have gotten susie's uncle playing guitar, a little girl laughing, and a few odd prison noises from a building in our town that used to be a jail back in the day

  5. this can be a very deep mater specially in some remote countries.

  6. My team and I are paranormal research. i am owner and i fund the entire investigation. I won't accept donations or outside funding. We are serious about what we do.

    1. We investigate paranormal activity and we gather and study the results. we do not charge anyone as we are only doing research and to help those who come to us seeking answers or help.

    2. We go to any place that is asked of us to go within a reasonable distant unless things are slow in which case we may go just about anywhere in the US. In the case we are not asked to investigate but have been told of activity we always get written permission to be there.

    3. Equipment

    EMF detectors and recorders

    IR laser thermometers

    K-port air probe thermometers

    Digital voice recorders

    IR motion detectos

    Air quality monitors

    35 mm digital cameras

    DVR cams

    IR night vision cams

    IR night vision glasses

    Mini DVD recorders

    4. We analize all our data in a photo lab we have set up all done with date and time set recorded. We then may go back if we have questionable data to see if we can recreate what we can not explain. depending on what we caught and couldn't debunk we may set of equipment again to try and gain more data setting up a given area with more equipment from different angles.

    5. We always give feedback if we are called in to investigate rather we catch anything or not. many times we just go back to explain what it was rather then paranormal.

I been doing this for over 30 years and i do not do it for any other reason then personal. I do not talk people into it as everyone who calls us do most of the talking until the investigation is over. many believe paranormal investigators are con men but we do not con anyone people come to us when they are scared or confused as where they can not call the police and be taken seriously. many times we do not find anything that isn't normal but it is nice that these scared people have someone who will take the time and find out answers for them and set their minds at ease. Try telling someone who is scared that it's just normal stuff nothing to worry about and don't give it any thought and you will be ok does not show them you even care and they are back to being scared and confused that is why we do what we do.

  7. Honey, don't believe the {HYPE} those looneys are faking it, only trying to get you to pay attention while they try hard to get rich quick. It's always been the American way. Welcome to the human network!

  8. First I research the area.old land deeds, newspapers,etc.

Always ask first. Some will think you are crazy or they will try to humor you.Never ever go anywhere without asking. It is an easy way to wind up in jail or shot (it has happened)

I use a digital camera and mico recorder for EVPs.

Many hours of blowing up photos(I am my biggest skeptic)

On recordings,I have a friend who doesn't go. We never discuss the photos, sounds but write down what we see and hear on paper. When both are satisfied then we compare notes. Not very scientific but best we can do.

    If someone asks yes.

Always check out the area before ever going out.In the daylight every thing is easy to see but at night is another story. Also make sure of dogs in the area. No one wants to be attacked.

  9. frankly ,i never had been in a ghost hunt ,but i found your

    question interesting,thanks!

  10. Though I have worked within parapsychology using strict scientific protocol, the work I have done with spirits does not involve science at all.

What do I do?  I will travel to a location where disturbances have been reported or where there is likely to be a spiritual presence.  Once there, I will use a specific, non-physical method to try to make contact with a spirit.  If I am able to make contact, I begin a conversation to try to determine why this spirit is in this place.  Based on what I learn, I try to let the spirit know that s/he is no longer part of the physical world and that it is important to release any physical ties.

I only do this work in places where I am invited to work, or in locations where I inadvertently encounter a troubled spirit.

For me, this work is important because it involves helping others (even spirits).  Since I have found that I have a sensitivity, I feel a responsibility to help when I can.  I don't make any money on this.  I don't advertise.  I don't profess any special talent or ability.  I just do what I think is right when it feels right.  I will share pertinent information with other occupants of the house if they ask or if I feel that it is necessary to help resolve a conflict.

There may be detectable physical evidence that these spirits exist, but that is not important to me.  It is more important that we all follow our paths and that I help others to find thier way when I can.
