Question to those of Air signs -Do you feel a bit irritated & suffocated if one is near or sits close to you?

The reason I funnily post this up, is for some reason I have observed mainly with those whose sun and moon signs are air signs...i often find when another comes within close distances of them, their is an adjust in posture and behaviour whereas you can tell their is a slight discomfort, aggravation etc. I have noticed this with those that are gemini's and libra's but i do not know if it is the signs that come under the air element who feel like this.

Great question!!

My dad's Aquarius and he is always elbowing and touching when he's talking and I think to myself that it is sooo annoying (I love him to pieces but that does bother me) and I have a Gemini rising.  I also don't like it when a person talks really close to my face...what is worse is when you back up and they move forward in order to keep the ridiculously close position in tact (UGH)!  Can almost bring me to tears- hehehe.

That said, nothing else really bothers me.  I don't mind if a person sits right next to me or gives me a hug.  I just don't like it if they go overboard but a little rub on the back or on my shoulder when a person is walking by is nice to me.

That's weird, cause I don't feel like that at all. I have a Gemini sun and  Libra moon and i love to cuddle. I can't get enough of it! I'm very, very affectionate. But, I am right on the Taurus cusp, and their very sensual people, so that may be where my Taurus side shines through! =]

Oh God yes!! I hate when a friend comes to my place to visit and instead of sitting on another couch or at least on the far end of the one I'm sitting on, they'll sit right next to me. That gets on my last nerve. Or if someone is talking to me and they feel the need to talk 2 inches away from my face. I believe that's called a close talker by Seinfeld standards..rofl. I'm just really big on personal space and now that you've mentioned all the air signs I know are like that too. Or the flip side, I'm very respectful of someone's space too. I would never sit directly next to someone unless they asked me to and I always respect personal boundaries. I know some people that will walk up to someone they've met the first time and hug them but I like to make sure that's okay first.

I am a Sagittarius.I get highly irritated when someone is near or sits close to me.I always maintain a certain level of distance with everyone.Because of this only I ended up in a fight with a Cancer gal.She was a clingy,cuddly person.I don't like people hugging me at all.She thinks I am a cold ruthless person.what to do.I broke up with her.Now I am surrounded by lots of wonderful Aquarius gals.

Yes, my dad is like that DEF--both sun and moon in air.  If he is in one of his more detached states, then no (b/c he is too detached)....but the twins are sometimes slightly ruffled if I walk into the room suddenly, and need a few moments to rearrange themselves.  Libras are a little, just a little better than the gemini.

I am kind of like that (but more if they are overly invasionary of my mental space).......but if it's someone i really like (of the opposite s*x), then I don't mind physical intimacy....like sitting side by side for a long time......but it will start wearing down on my nerves if they ask me too many questions or something b/c that interrupts my daydreaming, etc.

I also could not have a dog....they get too close for my comfort.

Im Gemini with moon also in Gemini.

Im a very cuddly person and always kiss my friends when i greet them.

Im very bubbly and confident. However im not that confident on eye contact and dont like sleeping face to face with my partner or having some one sit too close to me

i used to be like that. my sunsign is in Libra and my moon sign is in Aquarius AND my mars is in Gemini too so I am a VERY AIRY person. I used to feel SO suffocated. I used to isolate myself  from everyone for about 3 whole hours just to feel relaxed again. I also used to find it hard to express emotions. But I've changed now, but yes it was natural for me to shut myself away from people and feel easily suffocated.

Well I'm an Aquarius & yeah I pretty much don't like people to get all touchy feely with me.

Some people of another sign don't understand me & think I am weird or that I have had trust issues ;P ...haha.

Yeah, no I have a great self image... I just don't like people getting too close is all.

I don't exatly know why either...I feel people need to lay off or it won't work.

It restricts me, it makes me feel uncomfortable, it bothers me -_-

I really don't like needy people or people that like to be too close.

I usually tell anyone that keeps touching me or keeps hugging me to back off & to stop.....I mean I'm not rude or anything, but I guess it is insensitive & to blunt for the other people to hear.

I don't know... if they can't take my honesty that their touching makes me feel uncomfortable...their loss...not mine.

I think there is a time & a place for that when meeting old family memebers, being affectionate with loved ones...yeah blah blah blah...you get it :D

Be affectionate & caring when you need to, not everytime,..thats how I see it though...it maybe different for other people...I am speaking for me & only me ^_^

I don't know I can't deal with too much closeness...I need my space & individuality to be comfortable...I seriously don't care if anyone thinks thats weird. Independance is stronger than dependance...in my view. I mean being your own person makes others want to be around you, totally depending on others for everything is like a turn off...I guess.

I even get umcomfortable when people want comfort emotionally so I just sit there all nervous...waiting for it to stop...I simply don't know how to comfort them even if I want to I can't :\

It may seem insenitive, but I do care in some way or another...if that makes sense.

Wow yes I am like that!  Can't stand someone to sit right next to me I am very uncomfortable.  Unless it's my man :)   But yes and I am an aquarius but my moon is in taurus, but it's in the 11th house--which is aquarius's house

i'm a sagittarius and I get this feeling too usually when i'm uncomfortable in a situation, if someone sits to close that I don't want them to be I will  move slightly or get up and move completely. Same for  sofas even with my family I will  ge up and rather sit in armchairs. Maybe I'm odd like that.  I just like my personal space.

My sun sign is a cancer but I have gemini moon and libra rising.. .I def hate it when people stand/sit or just come too close to me. It really is irratating and never really understood wh y. It's not that I am disgusted with people, I just don't like the closeness.

EDIT- I think ana mentioned the whole interrupting daydreams..omg I so get that! I am almost always lost in another world and it just bugs the h**l out of me when someone tries to talk to me while I am daydreaming.

I also get highly irritated with dogs. They are way too up close and personal for my liking. If they can stay there distance and not jump all over me or sniff me then I am fine.

I have Gemini Sun and Libra Moon, both air signs. I absolutely hate it when people sit too close to me. I usually say "Ahh!!! Move over! You're like way too close!"

Even at the lunch tables at school and everything. xP

It bothers me more when it's a stranger...it's like "I don't freaking know you, go to the other side of the bench!" xD

Tell me about this. Air signs need air and room to breathe. I don't like it either and not that it is discomforting or anything. It's when they have a bad breadth and stuff that irritates me and then they come close to you and you are like, HELP !!!! I need fresh air, not  bad breadth.

And your post is good. Stuffy air can suffocate anybody even a fish LOL>. Give me a break what the heck. It beats going around with a gas mask . There's enough pollution outside so I don't need pollution from my friends or GF.

Yes. I have Gemini Moon, Mars/Mercury in aquarius, pluto in libra all in a grand kite.Im not a huggy kissy type of female so please give me 50 ft. One of my coworkers likes to touch people on the shoulder or head without giving warning. It takes a lot of prayer for me not to sock him in the face. If you are not a small animal, child or my husband do not touch me!

I definitely feel like this, yes. I need a lot of personal space, and don't feel very comfortable when others enter it. I have a certain posture and air I like to maintain, and when others are up close, I feel that I have less control over my surroundings. I don't mind being close to someone that I have feelings for, or someone that is very special to me, but everyone else I like at a safe distance. I'm even a little awkward when it comes to hugs.

However, I don't know if this is true for all air signs. My aunt is an Aquarius, and she is very up close and personal. I also have some air sign friends that are always hugging me and talking very close to my face...So hmm...I'm not sure what in a chart would contribute to such feelings. It's an interesting theory though.

I think you have a point about how much air is in the chart. I have a Cancer Moon, which needs a lot of love and attention, so I think that at times I'm a bit conflicting. My Sun and Moon are squared, so I can be a bit difficult to understand. When people get too close to me, I become uncomfortable, but when they distance themselves, I feel insecure and unloved. I guess it's something I have to learn to cope with.
