Question & update, my mom had her Colonoscopy and they found a small pollup would that be the reason the CEA ?

test came back a 6. She has more tests this Friday but it seems like we are starting to rule things out. Any opinions?

Why was the CEA done? This is not a primary screening test so until the biopsy results came back little reason to order it. A simple polyp is not a reason for a CEA of 6. If your mom has liver or other abdominal problems or is a smoker too maybe there are benign reasons for the elevated CEA. Now that one knows the CEA is elevated a thorough evaluation needs to be done to be sure a malignancy is not missed.

They probably took a piece (biopsy) of the polyp and sent it for testing. That should tell them if there was/is any cancer. That's the only way to really tell if that was causing the increased CEA.
