Question while online booking in Trenitalia?

Hi,

When i try to book a train ticket through Trenitalia website there is an option for Smart & Smart 2. Am i entitle for that kind of discount price?

When i finish select all the information in the "TICKET DELIVERY" section it wrote something like this

"Self Service (Not present in the departure station)"

May i know how do it get this ticket? Basically i'm not from Italy so i have no idea how i can collect my ticket?

Ps: I'm taking night train from Prague to Venice at 20 Oct 2008.

  1. Smart price is a discounted fare. Basically, you can buy very low price tickets. I mean as low as 25 euros from Milan to Paris on a TGV. Have you checked the English version of www.trenitalia.com? You should be able to get all the information there.

    Regarding the ticketing I suggest you to avoid the self service mode and buy your journey ticketless.

    NOW I UNDERSTAND. Please, consider that you are travelling TO Italy. The Italian railways webside does not "control" the situation in foreign railway stations (in this case  Prague station, where you should depart from). Trenitalia does not allow to buy ticketless journey from or to Czech Republic on the web. Neither can you have it sent to you by regular mail. On the other hand is seems there is no way for you to by a ticket on the Czech railway website.

    So, why don't you try to have the ticket bought for you by a travel agent in Prague? Maybe you can arrange this with your travel agent in your country. This is the only suggestion I have.

    You can collect your ticket in any station where you can find the machine (the list is available in the website. Just after the place where you can click on the choice "Self service"). In those stations (always within Italy) where no machine is available you can collect your ticket at the ticket office, during the opening hours.  I don't know how early you can collect your ticket but I suppost  any time after you've bought it, though I'm not sure. They will send you by email a PNR and you can try any time. That's it, I'm afraid I can't help you more than this. Where are you from, by the way.
