Question with starting paragraph?

The topic of the essay I have to do is, "How do personal trials affect or change a person?"

And I am going to write about how my mother has a brain tumor and it has made her a more stronger person.

My first paragraph starts out...

Uncontrollable tremors, tingling sensations that feel like thousands of pine needles penetrating the skin, and numbness that envelops the entire being to utter discomfort are just a few of the many obstacles my mother has to endure every waking minute.

Then I am stuck at what to write. I need a few ideas please!

My paragraphs after that are going to be about how she is optimistic, and how she is empathetic to the suffering of others.

I'd take it out of passive voice and put it into active to start.

Your connecting paragraph should describe what sort of tumor.

Go from there.
