  1. I can't stand Bella! I agree with "Me" (the person that comment a minute ago...)...

And Edward is so fake! He doesn't even sound remotely close to being real, she describes him to 'good.' (and he's abusive) Jacob is more realistic.... but he's supposed to be the not-awesome person.

The grammar and what not is bad to, the editor really wasn't doing there job, I think.

To much detail. It makes it seem like she's telling, not showing. So you can't really get into it, because you are um, how to put this....because you are watching it happen, not experiencing it while it happens.

  2. I don't like it. Shouldn't you do your own homework though?

Edit: To help, you could always look up reviews on amazon.com or bn.com. There have also been many questions like this, and you could look them up on the search engine up top.

Second Edit: Well, alright. Here are the (vaguer) reasons why I don't like it.

-The writing is bad. This isn't an opinion. If you're not an avid reader, or one of better books than Twilight, I suppose you wouldn't catch it, but as a fact, Twilight is not well written. The editor couldn't even catch typos and grammatical errors. There were plot holes, and the fourth book contradicted every building block laid out by the first three books.

-The characters are a mess. Bella is a doormat and her personality changes all of a sudden in book four, with no warning. And nobdy bats an eye (in the book). The first three books, Edward shows obvious signs of an abusive character. There's an essay on this that you can read, it could help with your essay: http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/recycle-...  Jacob Black was my favorite character because he was most realistic of all the main characters. And Stephanie Meyer ruined him by having him imprint on Nessie, who shouldn't exist because Stephenie Meyer said she shouldn't exist. It's great that she was exploring "what ifs" but she's repeatedly said that the only bodily fluids vampires have is venom. That's it. Nothing else. So it's impossible for Bella to have gotten pregnant in the first place.

The general story (up to Breaking Dawn) is a good one. I would have liked it more if Bella stood up for herself, instead of being a weakling feather in the wind, and if Edward was less abusive, if Breakin Dawn had a completely different plot where everybody DIDN'T have a happy ending, because that's extremely unrealistic (which has NOTHING to do with the fact that this is a fantasy series), and if the writing was better. Which is a lot to ask, and why I don't like the series.

...Third Edit: Oh yes, Edward's character is extremely unrealistic. In my opinion, the reason why this (and his abusiveness) is so, is because Meyer was attempting to make him mysterious and s**y and romantic, and it backfired into the abusiveness that now exists. It worked, the mysteriousness and such, but really, she could have done this so much better, without him being abusive. She could have. The fact that she didn't know how is another reason she's a bad writer. It's not just in the technical stuff, the grammar and such, it's in the characters and plots.

  3. I don't like them, mainly because I can't stand the main character, Bella. She's a complete Mary-Sue and a jackass. She has no personality and no self-respect. She's also worthless; the series is literally all about how weak and helpless she is. She's not a heroine at all--she's the most pathetic damsel in distress that's ever been portrayed.

Edward Cullen is also too unrealistic. In fact, most of the characters are unrealistic. They are very hard to relate to.

The books are badly written, and it seems like Stephenie Meyer has a very lazy editor.

I honestly don't know how that c**p got published.

  4. I don't.

    I dislike it because:

    - There's barely a plot, and what little plot there is is so weak

    - The characters, with the exception of Jake, and either unnecessary for the story (Emmett and Esme, for example, could  be taken out of the story and it wouldn't affect it), unrealistic (Edward), or annoying (Bella).

    - Bella is a horrible role model.

    - The theme of the book (series, actually) is horrifying. Bella swan has singlehandedly set feminism back 100 years because she's such a spineless jellyfish. ;). She's a useless character. She's a damsel in distress who has no personality.

    - The writing is terrible. Stephenie Meyer writes like a teenager. It's SO bad. Doesn't she have an editor?!

    - Edward and Bella's relationship is unhealthy and gives young, emotionally needy girls a skewed vision of what love and relationships are actually like.

    - The books are far too long. If Smeyer would have written the book in third person, the books would all be about half of their length. A lot of the things in the book could be cut out because they are just filler-- they do nothing to move along the weak plot.

    - The book rationalizes, or glorifies, things that should never be rationalized (falling in love with children, letting your boyfriend dismantle your car, having your sister kidnap your girlfriend, telling your girlfriend what to do, forcing yourself onto someone, kissing someone while they are in a relationship, murdering people, etc).

    - It's obvious that Stephenie Meyer didn't really plan out the series from the start (she didn't). JKR planned out every single bit of Harry Potter before publishing it, and it shows. Stephenie wrote Twilight, then wrote out Breaking Dawn. Jake was never a part of the series, at first. She developed the plot lines with him in New Moon and Eclipse because her editor wanted her to have Bella "stay in highschool" longer. Because she didn't plan out all the series, there are SO many plot holes. That's another reason I hate them.

  5. Oh sweet, I would love to rant for you! (Note, I only read the first one only but I shall also give you want I have gathered from others)

In my opinion of this book, I find the characters very unsatisfying. The characters came out clique, I would say. Something a young teen would throw together when making their first story. What kind of girl call their dad by their first name the whole time?? If you have 3 different guys, hoping that you would ask them to the dance, it means that you are far from plain and un-pretty. Especially when you are the frikkin new girl! I don't see why she was not at least fazed at the fact that when Edward revealed to her that he's a vampire. If you were a normal human being, the first thing you would do is freak out. After those stupid complications, then fall in love. Except they sorta fell in love at first sight which is just unrealistic...

And Edward. Dear ol' Edward, you're a stalker. Okay, something else that Bella was not freaked out over. The guy was in her room in the very beginning and she was not at least scared that he could've like raped her there and then?? And what's with the super looks and super skills? Does this guy have no flaw? How in the world would he develop with no frikkin flaw asides "Bella"?

Okay, from what I know of...

If your daughter suddenly calls you up on the other side of the country and went, "I want to get married and I'm not yet 18" how in the world would you react? Any normal parent, pretty freaked out. Her mother didn't want her to go through the same thing that she did but then she agrees because she is sure that Edward and Bella was much in love? It didn't last for more than two years and they are in high school for chrissake!

Now, what lamer to name your child when you combine two names of ones you loves and that is more than confusing to say? Also that everyone got what they wanted without sacrifices. No book is good without some problems. From what I heard, the last novel was just wrong but I haven't read it so I can't rant much on it.

Story wise, it wasn't exciting for me at all. It took me a month to finish that book. Nothing happens until the end and I don't see it as the climax. It is more of something you would write if you want to put yourself in as a story. Lacks character depth, detail, and plot.

Yes, this turned out as a complete rant though I hope you found one or two things useful.

Edit: Oh yes, and if you notice, every single chapter Bella has to describe Edward's body part or action. He's hot, we get it. Stop killing him. How is that good writing may I ask?
