Ok so in 2006 I took my high school equivalency test and got a high school diploma .its actually what some people call a "GED". so i registered for a community college the year after and so far i have been going two semesters. when i first registered they said everything was fine and they made copies of my diploma. anyways, almost a year has passed and for this current semester i received financial aid. i filled out the FAFSA and my college approved it, and so i received financial aid. Now, I check my info online from my school website and it says that they want my GED scores and that i wasnt supposed to get financial aid because it's not a credited high school. I dont get it, why are they telling me this now? What can happen? Will they want the money back or what?

  1. Ive never heard of anything like that. As far as I know they cant ask for their money back. My best advice would be to contact your financial aid department. I know they are usually useless and dont know anything, but keep asking until you get an answer. Also go to the FAFSA website their should be something there. Good Luck!!!

  2. Well the coputer probably made a mistake. You can just inform somebody in the school about it. Thats the only way i can help so your welcome.

  3. No - they'll just cut you off, and put you onto the same repayment schedule that EVERYONE who is "out of school" goes on...

The only difference is that your payments will be FAR less than someone who went the whole three years ;););)

  4. Passing scores on the GED is the same as graduating from high school.  Just provide them with your scores the state department of education gave you after you took the test and everything will be fine.
