If I were to sign a 5 year lease for a house (rent) and 3 years later the people I signed the lease with sold the land, would I be evicted? Or can I stay until my 5 years is up, no matter who owns the land?

  1. Depending on the new owners. Usually when this happens whoever is living in a home on a lease for such time, then the lease is still good until the day of that lease is up. If, however the new owner needs the home for some type of their own usage, then they can take you out of the lease by giving you time and having the lease voided which you then are not liable for such. You should talk to the new owners and see what they want to do with the home. They might have you to void the lease you have and have you do another one. If, they need it for themselves then you could be evicted. Best thing is to talk to the new owners and speak to an attorney. Good Luck!
