Questions Carolina Hurricanes face for the next Hockey Season -NHL Special
Carolina Hurricanes just became a big name on the map of the National Hockey League (NHL) as they brought on board some top level players during the 2012 offseason. While the upcoming regular season might be in real threat of being locked out, Carolina is
pumped and ready to go.
Jordan Staal was without a doubt the biggest acquisition made by the Hurricanes as they reunited the younger brother with older of the two and team captain, Eric Staal, making for an unstoppable offensive force.
Jordan Staal, a 24-year-old native of Tampa Bay, Ontario, Canada, was a second overall draft pick by Pittsburgh Penguins, his original team, and is a 50 point (25 goals, 25 assists) scorer, giving a major boost to the Carolina Hurricanes in every respect.
The next name of the list has to be Washington Capitals right winger, Alexander Semin. Semin put up 54 points (21 goals, 33 assists) last season and spending $7 million on one of the leading forwards in the league on a one-year contract just goes to show
the serious attitude of Carolina to try new things to improve the club in all departments.
Some say that the Carolina Hurricanes still lacks when it comes to defence, but not all leagues in the NHL are running of being complete in every department and the Carolina club is certainly more than prepared when it comes to having high flying shooters.
The 2011-2012 NHL regular season did not go well for the Carolina Hurricanes at all, since at one time, they were one of the leading clubs when it came to being top contenders in the playoffs and are also a club that took home the Stanley Cup championship
in the past decade.
Carolina Hurricanes ended at number 12 with 82 points and a 33-33-16 record. They needed 10 points just to tie eighth place Ottawa Senators, but with a whole new line-up of hardcore forwards just waiting to get back on the ice, Carolina just might be a topper
when the next season starts as it will definitely be interesting to see them perform with all the new talent they have picked up in such a small timeframe.
