I just downloaded Comodo firewall as I read an article about Windows Vista firewall not blocking outgoing info by default. First: Is this true? Second: Should I actually turn Windows firewall off? Is Comodo better than the default Windows Vista firewall?

  1. Yes it's true; Windows firewall doesn't block outgoing traffic by default. Comodo is a very good firewall - it will "learn" as you go along so that it will set up rules about what to let out through the firewall eg Internet Explorer, your antivirus updates etc. (If you haven't yet installed Comodo, my advice is not to activate Defense+ when prompted otherwise you may well get problems as indicated in the answer above....)  Most modern firewall software, once installed, will automatically switch off Windows firewall. It's not a good idea to have two firewalls running at the same time. You can always type "Windows Firewall" in the start menu search bar, click on the result shown and check if Windows firewall is indeed switched off.

  2. Comodo is g*y it messed up my computer. Now cant even get on computer before Comodo pops up and freezes the comp. even though it finds the most needed viruses all it will do is mess up ur comp.

Try Antivir antivirus. Free and easy.

And no dont turn of firewall will running scans

dont know about vista though srry
