Questions about Adderall XR

I recently started taking Adderall XR 20 mg once a day. However, I don't work mornings on the weekends or on Monday. So on those days, I sleep in a little (maybe until 9 or 10) and on the other weekdays, I am up by 6am. Does the time I take the medication affect how it works for me? And also, I have heard weight loss is an issue. I was wondering if taking something like Slimfast would have a negitive effect? I would like to drink that just because I know it fills me up from prior experience, and I know that It has nutrients in it. So if I'm not eating due to lack of appetite during the day, at least I know I'm getting some kinda of nutrition. Thanks in advance!

  1. I also take the same dosage and my doc told me I do not even need to take them daily or at any certain time. Take them on days you feel you need the extra boost of energy or need to pay attention that day. Also there is no certain time to take them. I was told to take them with my first meal of the day. But usually I take them when I wake up because they take a few hours to fully kick in. As far as slim fast. That is a great idea because it does make you have a lack of appetite and at least you are getting vitamins and what not.

  2. I took Adderall XR 20 -30 mg for about a year.  It helped me a lot when it came to concentrating on schoolwork.  I would suggest you take it only before noon, or else it can affect your sleep significantly.

About the weight thing....before I started taking the Adderral I weighed about 120 pounds (I am 5ft 6 inches).  I dropped 5 pounds within 2 months of starting to take the Adderral.  And then I continued to drop more weight until I was staying at 110 pounds.  A lot of people thought I had an eating disorder.  When you are taking the Adderall, you may feel tempted not to eat much, or not eat at all (I was).  In my opinion, Slimfast would be better than nothing for sure...just be sure you stay hydrated with water, because you could get dry mouth!  But really, I would suggest you eat real meals or healthy snacks if you have time.  Don't cheat your body!  Also, you might want to take a few days off from taking the Adderall...just so your body can re-coop.  Allure magazine (August 2008 Issue) has an article on Hollywood's diet pill...when I open to the article, it was Adderral.  Just watch yourself with the stuff, and ask others if your moods, actions, etc. have changed since you started taking it.....
