Question:

Questions about Adhesions post surgery?

I had a laproscopy, D&C, and uterus suspension, and burned off mild Endometriosis nearly three weeks ago and ever since the surgery developed a stretching, sharp nerve pain in lower right of belly that radiates into my back...Its rather low but away from the incision areas, only on the right hand side. The pain is aggravated on a full bladder...and exercise and walking...scans all come back normal (Except for mild dilation of the right renal pelvis, supposed to not be causing the pain) but Gyno did suggest maybe adhesions....would adhesions develope this quick and just from a laproscope? what options do I have to remove this pain on a daily basis?...or what else would it be the pain? I also have a bit of nerve damage as part of my pubic bone area is numb and surrounding skin area very very sensitive

  1. Yes, for some women adhesions can develop very quickly after a laparoscopic surgery.  I've known of women it has happened to.

As for dealing with the pain sure they could remove the adhesions but you run the risk of possibly having more adhesions form.  You can try consulting with a physical therapist to see if they might be able to help.  Sometimes the work that physical therapists do can include trying to break up adhesions to see if that helps ease some of the pain.

Another possibility is that you could still have some endometriosis inside although your doctor removed some during the surgery.  You could be dealing with microscopic lesions (an example only).

I would recommend a consultation with a Pain Management specialist as well to see what they say.
