Questions about Boot Camp software on macs?

I hear you can run Windows on a mac with Boot Camp, but why?

What would I need it for?

Also, what kind of limitations are involved.

It can't just work excatly the same thing, can you?

And can you just stay on it all the time as if you had an XP and not mac?

I'm also interested in playing this pc game that I have. One problem: It's for 1998 pcs. But I hear that XP is compatible to it. Is it possible to launch boot camp on a mac, and then go to "use older software" which is in of windows XP and be able to run the 1998 game? Thanks!

The why is is that you don't need two computers if you need to run Windows apps.  I have users who dual boot their Macs because we have in-house apps written for Windows, and they need to do their other work on Mac-only apps.

Boot Camp allows you to dual boot the machine, and it's exactly like any other PC running Windows.  The only limitations are with the hardware specs.  For example, you can run Windows games as long as the hardware meets the specs.  You can leave it in Windows full time if you want.  

As for your particular game, it may work and it may not work.  XP compatibility mode is hit or miss.  You can try searching to see if others have had any success with it.

Since Apple uses the latest Intel Processor you can for some time now run Windows on a Mac. I work at a firm that has over 300 Apple Macintosh computers in various forms. Not all legal software works with OS X so we have boot camp to run LiveNote, Concordance and Ringtail etc. Did you know you could run Vista faster on a Mac than on a PC!

If your game is compatible with Windows XP SP2 then it will work on the Mac with Boot Camp. You can now have the best of both worlds. That would be the main reason why. What game that's over 10 years old would be so important to play?
