  1. I was in Cozumel twice in May and the weather was delightful.

Things to do.Snorkeling, scuba diving, sightseeing, dolphin swims,Mayan ruins, adventure tours, boat tours, parasailing and so much more.

We rented a jeep and took our own tour of the island. The east side is very interesting and different than the west side of the island. If you are into photography, you will be very pleased on the east side of the island. Many photo ops. It has surf and some riptides and not to good for swimming but there are some calm areas. Chen Rio is one calm area.

We also took a ferry over to Playa del Carmen and spend several hours shopping enjoying 5th Avenue. Bring your bargaining skills. Some good small restaurants over there. We had plenty of laughs after some powerful margaritas.

Cozumel is one of my favorite islands. Enjoy)

  2. Aaahhhh Cozumel ^_^

I'm not a good one for the weather, but during my stay (which almost turned into a permanent residency) in March it was beautiful. Its definitely hot and sunny, but check almanacs or the weather channel for weather trends during the month of May.

Cozumel is beautiful. The water is nice and warm, and the sand is hot and white. The tours in the island are nice and I'm sure you can get them arranged through your hotel (I solicited work at the Occidental but never stayed there.. haha!). If you want to take tours on the mainland, then you'll want to start in Playa Del Carmen, not Cozumel. Just walk down 5th street (where all the beachside shops and bars are) and select from the many, many tour guides offered. My suggestion is to shop from an established business (ie has an office, not just a stand in the middle of the street). You don't need to rent a car. Plus, where the tours go, you can't really travel all willey-nilley. I suggest sticking to the tours.

If you're wanting to do a lot of exploring on the mexican riviera I suggest staying in Playa Del Carmen and ferrying over whenever you want to go to Cozumel. It'll be cheaper for you to go on tours and such that way.

I went on a tour to Coba, a cenote (underground river/pool), and a Mayan household. It was nice, and Coba was awesome because you're still allowed to climb the pyramid. The setting is beautiful and reaching the pyramid follows a bike ride in the forest which is sweaty and beautiful. No one is allowed to climb Chichen Itza anymore because some old folks fell and died. Sad. The cenote was also beautiful but the "mayan village" was quite exploitative. I dont even know if that's a word, but I didnt like it.

You can also arrange trips for Xel-Ha, Tulum, swimming with the dolphins, outings to Playa Mujeres or Cancun, and other touristic attractions through the same tour places. Its quite nice and relatively inexpensive.

    Hope this helps...
