3. I am thinking of booking hostel also, thinking that 2 choices for location, one is close to train station, one is close to scenic spot, which one do you think is better? Especially for Venice, Milan, Florence and Rome. Are the train station location and the hostel nearby safe?

4. I know that there are subways in Milan and Rome, Is the Eurorail pass also cover it? Or we have to purchase the ticket again? In addition, in general, how long is required for traveling from one station to the next one in Milan and Rome? Is the traveling time just like the MTR station in Hong Kong? I cannot find the website about the time traveling between 2 destination in English, just found one in Italian… please help…

5. I see that from the hostel websites, the price is always stated as “start from”, then, is it mean that the price stated is not the price I actually pay which would be higher?

  1. Hello,

    3. If you can stay closer to a scenice spot you should do that.  The hostels in Rome that are close to the train station are very safe.

    4.  I don't believe the eurrail pass covers the metro system.  It is mostly for the larger trains.  The passes for the metro are very cheap though.  As for travelling on the metro and times between stops, it is very quick, usually only  a minute of two between stops.  There are only 2 lines in Rome but they do stop by most of the major sites.

    5.  The prices in the hostel go up depending on the accomodations you choose.  Some have more private rooms that cost more.
