Questions about Mari?

I am from Korea.

I do not know where I put my questions about the name,

so, I wrote mine on Travel part.

Question : When I listen Italian classcal songs, I can hear the name "Mari" many times.

1. Is it from the word "Maria" (from Bible)

2. Is it commonly used in Italian family name, first name or both?

3. (Optional, if possible) Are there any reasons that composers use that name?

mari in Italian means seas....perhaps the composer is referring to a place in Italy

I guess what you hear is "Maria" (in songs the last letter is often not heard). Many classical songs have a religious origin (Maria, the mother of Jesus), and I think this is more probable than the word "mari" seas: I can't think of a song with it in it. If you can give me a few titles, I can tell you for sure.
