Questions about PDAs?

Okay, so I start college in the fall and I'm getting a MacBook. For the past 3 years I've been using a planner for everything. I am kinda obsessed with it. I can't go anywhere without it. The problem? It's really bulky. So, inspired by "27 Dresses", I want to get a palm. I looked at what appeared to be the only 3 handhelds Palm had. I'm thinking the middle priced one is the one I like. I like the WiFi part. Tungsten, maybe? Okay, and the questions start:

1) With my MacBook, I have to get the Office Suite for Mac. Will that be compatible with the Word/Excel/Powerpoint stuff on the Palm? Will it sync correctly?

2) I plan on studying abroad and I love to travel but I always get frustrated writing notes when I think of something on the plane. Now, it says it works on the plane. It won't interfere or anything, will it?

3) Should I get this? I don't want the Palm phone because I love my phone. It works wonderfully. And with WiFi I won't have to pay the $30 a month to use internet!

  1. I concur w/ AI90211....

    1.  Documents to Go will allow you to work with MS format files.

    2.  I work on my Palm TX all the time on the plane after business trips for notes, contacts, schedules......after taking off, everyone fires up the laptop right?  The TX doesn't have Mobile capability so it's alright.  There is talk of WiFi access on long airline flights so you'll be WiFi ready.

    3.  You may want to check the compatible phone list on Palm's official website.  If you can make a BlueTooth link btw the TX and the cell, it opens a whole new set of features using both cell and Palm together.  SMSing becomes really easy, you can dial contacts directly from the Palm, transfer photos via BT if you have a camera phone and the network allows it....etc....

    3.  The TX with a good browser, Opera Mini, NovarraNWeb, etc works very well.

    A couple of GREAT apps that work on Palm platform are:

    1.  Google Maps, get to a WiFi area and you can do what the iPhone/iTouch does;

    2.  TCPMP.  Movie & Video & Media player.

    The TX supports up to 4GB SD card so you can even use your MACBook, Handbrake, to rip, store and watch 27 Dresses right on the TX using TCPMP.  A902's Missing Sync recommendation is a must for MACs....

    Good Luck.

  2. Palm uses documents to go to view and edit office documents. Also Palms internet browser is not the best, therefore it is recommended to use Opera Mini. To Sync your palm to your mac use missing sync. http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_pal...

    The Tungsten is solid device but the T/X is a much better device.
