  1. more than likely the other rat has bitten it..this hapend to my 3 rats, two of them ganged up on one and bit him on the face, body, tail etc, fortunatelythe wounds were not to deep, but on your rat does it look like a scratch? or a deep wound? maybe you should consider getting rid of the other rat as they do not get along, thats what i had to do :(

  2. If one of the rats has a bite on the tail, most likely one of the other rats did the biting. I would take him to the vets office and have them take a look at the rat.

  3. well the other rats had bitten it cause they do when they are fighting.

one of my hamster lost his ear (since he does not has a tail). it happens a lot. don't worry, your rat will be fine.

well you can take it to a vet if your very concerning about it.

  4. I'm not sure what you are asking?

If your rat has a tail injury, it is your duty as a pet owner to let it see a vet. Don't just do nothing and hope it goes away. Take it to a vet, or give it to someone who will.

Can you tell if other rats bit it? Well, does the tail wound look anything like a rat's teeth marks? Sometimes, males essentially, will fight to the point of biting eachother. Usually it is an accident of overused strength. Do your rats fight a lot?

  5. I see question marks, but no question.  Soooooooo what's the question?  Is it a bad bite?  Take the rat to the vet.  Are the rats fighting?  You might want to separate them.

  6. If flesh is missing it most likely is a bite from another rat.

Two male rats in one cage wouldn't make it unlikely for fights to break out.

If you do not want to take it to the Vet then put hydrogen peroxide on

the wound let that dry then put some Neosporin (or generic equivalent) on it.

Stop putting the Neosproin on the wound as soon as you notice the spot around the wound is no longer red. Redness indicates an infection starting.

When the redness subsides stop putting Neosporin on the wound and let it dry out so it can create a scab and heal.

Repeat as long as necessary but don't wet the wound unnecessarily let the rat's body heal itself. You know same as us we stop treating once any germs have been fought and it is time to let a scab form.

If puss or fluid that is not clear start to ooze out of the wound then you should take him to the vet because he may need antibiotics, such as Amoxicillin.

It would be best to separate him from the other rats while his wound heals.
