Question:

Questions about Talent Agencies?

I've been wanting to become a professional actress since I was 12(I'm 16 now) and I finally sent in my headshot and resume to local talent agencies(I live in Washington D.C.) in the summer of 2007. I still I haven't even gotten call yet. I know it takes maybe several months to get a call but they're maybe a reason why though:

1. My dad accidentally threw out the voice messaging system a few months after I sent in my info.

I'm going to a Proscout interview soon but I do not want to pay a $700 registration fee if I do get selected. What should I do? Should I try send in my info again and give them my cell number? Or should I wait longer? Help please.

  1. Summer of 2007 is a long time ago... You have to be relentless and never take no for an answer. You said you haven't heard from them... have you heard a no, though? Keep trying.. meanwhile try to expand your resume by going to local workshops, improv groups, and volunteering somewhere theatrical. Theatre always reels these people because if you can be believable on stage you can be believable on film.

  2. Some people never get calls, sometimes if there's not enough on the resume or they don't like your picture, they throw your headshot and resume away right away.

        So...

    Get professional headshots.

    Get acting training.

Send it in again, and don't do proscout.

  3. NO PROSCOUT! please trust me it is not worth the $700 dollars. i almost made that mistake. & the truth is it shouldn't take months. if they liked you, they would have called back within 2 weeks. :[ the reason that they didn't call is probably because you aren't what they are looking for at the time. send your stuff out again (rite now) and give it another shot

    Good Luck

  4. You do NOT need to pay and agent to handle you...anything that asks you to do that is a SCAM!

Agents will want to sign you up because they will get a future percentage of your pay (usually 10%) of any job they book you. Agents will sign up someone with experience and training.

Do you have experience and training?
