Questions about airplane flights?

can anyone answer the following for me?

1. why do they always make you keep the windows in an airplane up for take off and landing?

2. what does the announcement 'cabin crew arm doors for take off' mean?

  1. 1. The windows do not roll down in an airplane...

    2. I believe it means to make sure they are locked, but I am probably way off on that.


  2. 1. so that the sliders on the windows don't come slamming down unplanned. Because of the forces involved during a takeoff and landing

    2. i maybe wrong on this too, but i strongly think it has something to do with double checking the front doors if its locked properly.

  3. 1.  So that people can see outside the plane to see if it is safe to get out on that side in case there is a crash.

    2.  Arming the doors means that if the doors are opened in an emergency, the automatic shoots deploy.  This is why when they land, the doors have to be dis-armed before the doors are opened.
