ok I'm 15 and ever since the adepo birth control shot i have been having no period also i keep having this black discharge well i was recommended to have an D&C does this really work and after this will i be able to have kids in the future also will it hurt alot and how long will it hurt?

  1. I had a D&C several years ago.

    Yes, it does work.  Having a D&C will not effect your ability to have kids in the future.  The procedure only removes the lining of the uterus like a period would only more thorough.

    When they do a D&C they will either sedate you or give you local anesthesia (I was knocked out for mine).

    You won't feel any pain when you're knocked out.

    You will have cramping and bleeding afterwords, but that is normal.  For me the cramping lasted a couple of days and the bleeding lasted a week.

    Doctors have been doing this procedure for decades.  You have nothing to worry about. :)


  2. a D&C at 15?.....I would think a second opinion would be in order. On depo injections you are not supposed to have periods, that is the way it works. You may be able to have children in the future depending on the extent of the D&C, the lining of the uterus will rebuild itself and children should quite a few years down the line, everything should be ok
