  1. Audiologist are hearing care professionals who measure hearing ability & diagnose, evaluate and rehabilitate hearing  problems like dispensing/fitting of a hearing aid. Mostly an E.N.T. specialist or physician refers a patient to audiologist for hearing evaluation, who in turn performs hearing tests.

Field is allied health field & an audiologist is not a physician.   According to test results he refers the patient to specialist for further medical or surgical treatment.Though initial hearing work up in cochlear implant surgery is done by an audiologist, actual surgery is done by an otorhinolaryngologist or otoneurologist.

Average salary varies with area and years of experience. In may 2004, the median annual salary of an audiologist was $51,470 (source: U.S. department of labor;bureau of labor statistics)

Some audiologist have Bachelor's/master's degree in audiology & speech therapy, In new York licensed audiologist have minimum master's degree in audiology.

The usual entry level for the BSc in audiology is a range of GCSEs (A-C) including English and science/maths with three A levels. At least one A level will generally be needed in a science subject. Entry requirement may vary with institutions.
