I found out about these blue guns that are made out of... not sure what but i was wandering if they are legal for civilians to own and if you can actually pull the trigger? also on the pistol models, can you pull out the cartridge like reloading? and last are they about the same weight as the normal model?

  1. I've been out of the handgun training loop for several years, so things might have changed.  In my day we used red guns for training.  But if you are talking about the synthetic non-firing firearms substitutes, Maker is pretty much spot on.  Another use for them is by holstermakers to fit holsters to specific handguns.

Now if you are talking about real firearms that are blue, you are talking about firearms made of carbon steel that are chemically blued to resist rusting.

  2. Blue guns or red guns are plastic training tools that allow users to simulate a firearm and to safely point that weapon at another student without the risk of negligent discharge. They have no functioning pieces. The weights are almost identical to the real weapons. It's like a block of weighted plastic shaped like the real gun.

  3. oh i'm sure you could buy one, but there are no moving parts that i am aware of . . . here.s a link for a google search.

  4. Maker is rite,They use them at the Police Accadamy.

  5. The guns that you are asking about are non-functioning training guns used in the police academies and in martial arts training.  Not much good outside that.  If you are interested in realistic looking but non-firing replicas, you might want to take a look at www.collectorsarmoury.com.  They have a wide array fo non-firing realistic looking guns as well as swords and other things.  I have no interest in non-firing replicas so I have never ordered from them but the pictures in their catalog look pretty nice.  Don't expect to buy one of their guns for the price of a cap gun, though.  They are much less expensive than a real gun but still not as cheap as a cap gun.  For instance, most of their handguns are in the range of $50 to $80 while their long guns will run about $150 to $225.  Want a nice Tommy gun or AK-47?  They have them.  Single action cowboy guns?  They have them.  Or modern Smith and Wesson .357 mag?  They have them.  They also have some realistic blank firing guns that might interest you.  Take a look.
