1. I want to breed mice for an award I want at school-i have to do a skill and this is it-anyway, what is the best way of introducing the two mice and how many cages will i need for separating the boys from girls? can the boys live with their dad or will they fight?

2. I do not want the babies fed to snakes or other animals-i want them to go to people as pets. DO NOT TELL ME NOT TO BREED THEM!!! I'm thinking of not giving them to a pet shop but advertising in a newspaper that they are free to good homes as pets-not food.

  1. They all can stay together the babies and mom and dad my brother used to breed them but only a one was feed to the snake every 2 weeks

  2. 2 ten gallon tanks can hold like 10 in each, but FYI if you sell/give them to a pet store they WILL be sold as food.

  3. Male mice will fight and possibly kill eachother. They do not know if they are realated or not. a dad will eat his young and so will a mother if she feels her young are in danger when they are born. Hamsters and Gerbils are much more inteligent animals, it's a fact, so... if you want to breed them instead for pets, a would agree with that decision. But whatever you do decide, good luck! =) a mom should be alone in a cage with her babies. so when a mouse looks pregnant put her in a cage by herself.  hope this helps

  4. i bred mice just leave them both in Cage for a couple of days

after a couple of days you should notice that the female is pregnant at this point remove the male.

than make sure she has plenty of shredded newspaper or blankets something to make a sort of nest thing with , that's what my mice did anyways... its keeps the baby's warm and secure once there born

just keep all the mice with there mum because they feed off her don't leave them with there dad! and if u notice a runt make sure they can get to there mum so they get fed as well becoz sometimes they die when there to small

when they have fur and you can see that they are feeding for themselves this point separate the males and females baby's into two different cages no mine didn't fight but if you see them fighting just get more cages. separate them otherwise you will end up with allot of mice they breed really quickly:I trust me i no and u might have trouble selling them i had trouble selling them

and u should have healthy little mice

    hope i helped

could you help me with my question?

  5. hmm...not that many people want to buy mice so the chances of them going to snakes are pretty good but it's natures way.  people eat cows snakes eat mice.although you might be able to donate them to petsmart...petsmart wont sell any animals to be fed as snake food.  anyway here is what i did when i was breeding mice for my snakes.

you will need 3 cages i used 1 glass tank (at least 29 gallon for the adults)  and 2 fairly large tall plastic tubs with several smallish holes drilled in the lid for air these are for separating the babies out.  if you are using plastic tubs you will also need some very thin flexable wire (home depot) to use for hanging water dispensers (just drape it through the air holes in the lid).  you will also need a small plastic cage with a clear see through bottom...this is the easiest way to s*x the mice...just put them in the clear plastic and let them relax and then put the thing over your head and the males will shall we say show themselves.  you can also use this cage to hold your mice when you are cleaning their house out.  you will also need another plastic tub or something to hold the baibes in while you are cleaning the mouse house out.

for the mouse cages each will need at least one exercise wheel and two hides for the adult cage and at least one hide for the tubs for the babies.  also toilet paper tubes and paper towel tubes make great things for mice to run through...they love it.

you can get 3 adult mice comfortabally in a 29 gallon aquarium 2 females and 1 male.  i just put them all together when i bought them and never had a problem...i never separated the male from the females even when there were babies in the cage.  i always used carefresh or some kind of pine bedding...you dont want to use regular shredded paper because the mice will stink fast using that.  with the pine bedding you only have to clean the mouse house every third day or so.  after the babies are born do not do anything with them...on the second or third day it should be safe to clean out the mouse house only hold the babies long enough to put them somewhere (away from the adults) to clean the house.  after the mouse house is clean put the babies back in first...where they were...then put the adults in the house.  sometimes when a mouse has her first litter of mice it is not uncommon for the mother to eat the babies...it happens...it's life.  once the baby mice are at the hopper stage (they will literally hop around the cage...much like chasing popcorn) about a week after they start hopping you can separate them out into their respctive tubs...boys one one side and girls on the other.

    good luck with your project!

  6. Where do you live? I love pinkies, ill Buy some from you =].Just leave the 2 mice in the tank for a couple of hours then check uup on them.If they sniff each other dont worry about it they're just getting to know each other.
