Questions about college?

Hello, I have a few questions about college. The thing is, I don't know much about college because I don't have older brothers or sisters and my parents didn't go. I am interested in writing and I want to become something like a journalist or a writer. I was just wondering what kind of degree I would need and how long it would take?

Also, if I can't find something I really want to do but still want to go to college, what can I go into and how many years of school is it?

(Sorry if I'm not making sense, I'm just really lost. I have no experience in this subject!!! xD)

you just need your history and your sci and all your other subjects to graduate, then you apply into communications this coming year sam. XD
