Question:

Questions about colored contact lenses?

Okay, so I have never worn contact lenses before. I'm going to get my eye examination done next Monday. I'e been practicing touching my eyes with thoroughly washed hands, and I'm confident I can put them in, and take them out. So my question; I will be getting colored contact lenses, or atleast, I want to get them. I have olive skin, blackish hair, and dark brown eyes. I would like to get green colored contact lenses. Would that look suitable to me, or would a greyish color be better? I'm 14 years old. Also, which coled contact brand would be best for me? Do they create disposable colored contacts, or do I have to use a solution? Would colored contacts be good for a first time wearer? Is there a difference between colored and non-colored contact lenses? Please help me out with this! I will award a best answer today!

  1. You will get a set of contacts on your first trip to the doctors. They will not be colored. The brand you use and how they will be maintained, (cleaning, how long you ear them, etc.) will be up to your doctor. Talk to him and tell him what you want.

Be careful, sometimes girls get colored lenses and they look totally weird in them. Ask your parents what they think (hey, they are going to tell you anyway!)

I have a friend at work. She is black and wears these blue lenses. So now she has blue eyes that have a black ring around them. Talk about strange looking.

  2. You doctor will let you put in some practice lenses so you can see what the colors will look like.  I think green would look great, but sometimes colored contacts look so fake, and you don't want that.  I have disposable contacts that can be used for up to two weeks, but you have to take them out each night so solution is needed.  My eye dr. said contacts really shouldn't be slept in, your eyes need air.

There shouldn't be any problem with you using them as a first time wearer.  Your doctor will tell you which type of lens will work best for you.

  3. You need to try them on and decide for yourself (with other opinions if you want) about what looks best tint wise.  Tints are readily available in disposable lenses, doesn't matter much whether you're a first time wearer or not, tinted will most likely cost more everything else (prescription, brand of lens, etc) being equal; a few of the lenses for dark eyes as you've described may affect your vision but your doctor can tell you that after seeing the size of your pupils.

  4. color or non color lenses are the same you shouls go with green or purple color they will look great on you they sell disposable one and you just have to put them in the solutin every day when u take them off they last for 2 to 3 weeks fresh color brand

  5. i think both of those colors would look good with your skin tone, it will just be up to you to choose the one you think looks the best. the doc's office will usually have a trial set that you can try on to see how it looks. the most popular colored contact brand is freshlook colorblends, it uses three different colors to get a more natural look. those are disposables, to be used for 2 weeks then tossed out. as for them being good for a first time wearer, i'd ask the optometrist. sometimes colored contacts can move around in your eyes if they don't fit right, and can make your vision blurry. you might want to keep a pair of clear contacts on hand, or your regular glasses. the only difference between colored and non-colored lenses is the color. they are available in prescription the same way clear contacts are. good luck!
