Question:

Questions about conception...?

My husband and I are TTC. This is our first child. My period was on the 8th and I usually have a 31 day cycle. This puts my ovulation time around the 25th of this month.

My question is, I took an ovulation test this morning and the first line was very faint (meaning my LH level is very low). Is it normal for it to be low a few days before your ovulation day?

Any information that you have that could help is conceive would be appreciated.

  1. Hi

I always had a faint line on an OPK and it didn't really darken.  However when I was due to ovulate it was a very dark line.

There was no indication or build up of a darker line beforehand.

However I did start using the OPKs with a smiley face as they were much more accurate to read!

I'm have been a constant OPK tester for the last 4 babies!!!

  2. Yes this is normal as what you are looking for on the OPK is the surge in your LH levels

  3. Not sure what TTC means...

Ovulation tests are not very specific, and ovulation has been found to occur any time from the 3rd to 5th day after mensturation ends, and maybe occur up to 3 or 4 day before the next cycle, and may occur more than once between cycles.  Ovulation has been found to occur several times a month, though that is not too likely.  The hormones in the blood indicate when ovulation takes place, while the urine and temperature tests are a bit less indicative.

I think your results indicate a chance within a few days, but please talk to you Ob/Gyn about tracking your fertility.

As far as conceiving, as long as you are both fertile, we know the best way!!!  Are you both considered fertile by your doctors?   If so, there's only one best way to make a baby!

    I wish you success.
