Hi, I am starting to learn about digital scrapbooking. I saw a lot of digital sites offer their products for photoshop cs2/3. Will photoshop 7.0 also works fine for that? Is it a huge difference between 7.0 and cs2? Or I better have install photoshop CS2? My compuster is PIII with only 15 GB hard drive left. So, I can't use photoshop CS3. Between photoshop 7.0 and CS2, which one do you like best? Thank you.

  1. If you are a beginner to digital scrapbooking, Photoshop is really a waste of your money. Get Photoshop Elements, the newest version.

Photoshop Elements (PSE) does SO MUCH and is just a fraction of the cost of Photoshop. I am seriously into scrapbooking, digital work and photography and I don't spring for PS, even though I'd like to at some point. I do design work for scrapbooking (been on quite a few design teams) and I've been published, to give you an idea of my interest level.

The newest version of PSE will save you money over an older version because someday (if not now) you'll get Windows Vista or later Windows versions and the older PSEs do not work properly with Vista. And there aren't plans for patches to be made to make them work. You might have the same problem with older versions of PS.

PSE is easier to maneuver, too. It even has features that PS doesn't. Once you master PSE and decide you MUST have PS, you won't regret having started with PSE.

Compare PSE at $80 and PS CS3 at $630.

  2. I would go for Photoshop elements. It is so much better! But if I only had the choice between 7.0 and CS2 I would defenitely work on CS2.

You can also download loads of freebies to work with from the following website:

  3. You also can use sites like picnik.com to work with your images and PhotoAlbum.com to build your scrapbook without the need to install any software.
